Harvest 2024 is upon us
January 24, 2024
Harvest 2024 arrived ten days earlier than previous years, and the usual nervous anticipation was quickly replaced by action in the vineyard and cellar. January 18th, we began with our Chenin Blanc, followed shortly after with our first pick of the Chardonnay.
This first Chardonnay harvest is destined to become a Cap Classique, this will be the second time winemaker Armand Botha has made a Cap Classique, his maiden 2017 vintage was a surprise for owner Greg Olsen and although experimental was a huge success.
The remaining Chardonnay was harvested on the 23rd and will be used for the wooded Chardonnays that Olsen has become renowned for. Perhaps an unwooded chardonnay is on the cards too?
Armand is very happy with the current progress of our white wines in the cellarĀ and we’ll soon turn our attention to harvesting the red varietals, starting with Pinotage. Our small team is hard at work, everything is hand-picked, hand-sorted and made as naturally as possible. We are extremely excited about this vintage and the journey that has now begun from vineyard to bottle.
