Vineyards & Winemaking
We currently have 11 hectares are under vines. Most of the blocks are older vines, between 19 and 35 years old. In 2015, 3 hectares consisting of 6 half hectare blocks were planted. Each rootstock and clone were carefully selected purposefully for the specific soil type to achieve the best possible quality grapes. Red vines planted are Pinotage, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and white vines Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc. The Klein Drakenstein valley is unique in terroir with north south facing slopes and sandy loam granite clay soils.
Only handpicked grapes find their way into our charming boutique cellar. Grapes are then de-stemmed and hand sorted. Our wines are fermented in open floating lid stainless steel tanks with regular punch downs by hand. After primary and second fermentation, depending on quality, the wines are moved to first fill barrels for further maturation.
We are proud to have been registered as an Estate in 2019. Vintages onwards will be labelled as Estate Wine, confirming that the wine was bottled and produced on the estate and that the wine is produced only from grapes grown on the farm.
